Trip full - managing numbers to keep logistics simple. Sorry. Thank you for your understanding.
This backcountry touring daytrip welcomes fit, experienced skiers, to scoot up to the 2,206m summit of Mt Chief Pascall.
Expect to gain about 1,000m over 10 kms, hopefully in 5-6 hours moving at an efficient pace.
There will be some steep sections and we may well ski down the avalanche debris path if not through the trees; comfort on complex terrain is a must, so as always, please self-select if this trip is appropriate for you. Potential for some bush skiing too.
We'll monitor weather and avy conditions leading up to the weekend, and if it makes sense, we could move the trip back one day to Sunday.
Min group size of 3 needed to proceed, and ideally no more than 6. I propose a dinner afterward in Pemberton to miss the traffic returning from Whistler.
Best guess/target timelines for the day:
Before signing up, please understand the route, conditions, your equipment, and your ability for a trip like this. Experience, fitness, and touring efficiency will serve you well. Have at least AST 1 (I always recommend having AST 2) and >1 season of experience in similar terrain.
GPX file is attached
Bring avalanche gear and the 10 essentials (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-Ae6OKjb6I). Ski crampons could also come in handy.
Logistics to be worked out in the forum.
Thanks for your interest!
