Keep your winter fitness up... we will hike the Larsen trail or BCMC to the top of Grouse and loop around the bear den back to the lodge. The plan is to download on the gondola (tickets $20).
Carrying the 10 essentials is mandatory for all participants. (Please ask for help if you don't have everything). You absolutely will need a headlamp and spare batteries, winter gloves, a hat, etc.
Bring microspikes, poles, an emergency kit, a headlamp and spare batteries, a winter puffer, appropriate clothing, and a rain shell. The trip will run rain or shine.
Pace will be fast (moderately fast) expect the hike to take around 1.45 hours, not including download from the lodge. Larson is a steep, rugged uphill trail. It is longer and less maintained than the BCMC for reference. This would be a similar pace to hiking the Grouse Grind in 60 minutes. FIT beginners are also welcome to join.
We can arrange to carpool in the planning forum. Plan to leave downtown at 4.15 pm which should have us starting the trail at 5 pm. Can be discussed in the planning forum and adjusted somewhat to suit the group. We can start later if that's the preference of enough of the group - although I realize some people will need to be home before 8 pm for the mentorship meeting the same night.
