An early ascent of Mt Sproatt via 21-mile creek trail. Conditions and time permitting, from the summit of Sproatt we will traverse over to Tonic Peak, and descend via its drainage back to the Rainbow Lake trail.
Participants must bring backcountry ski gear, avi gear, and headlamps (w spare batteries). Ski crampons are always a good idea on this type of trip where summit ridges can get wind blasted and icy. Expect good skiing below that. Also, for this year only, please bring a mask.
No one should head home until everyone is out.
Please note: This is a fast paced day trip requiring a high level of fitness and previous backcountry ski experience and is not suitable as a first trip with the club. You must be able to independently navigate in the mountains. I have posted a GPS track of our planned route. You are expected to download it onto your device.
I'll be posting final trip conditions and info within 24 hours of the trip start.
Please ensure the phone number on your BCMC profile matches the number of the cell phone you will be carrying with you.
