I have some new gear to break in, so an easy touring day up to Red Heather seems reasonable. May need to stop often for various adjustments, so we won't be setting any speed records.
We can do a few beacon search practices around Red Heather, and should still have time to pick safe terrain for a few turns above the cabin. Will aim to exit in daylight, in case there's still any rocks to avoid on the ski out (there were some two weeks ago, but this week's forecasted snow should hide them all.)
Beacon, shovel, probe, and AST-1 or equivalent are required.
Weather forecasts are a bit all over the map, but hopefully the snow on Sunday will be good. We can look for any MIN reports on Saturday evening and reconsider if it's hideous.
I'll pack a stove, so can plan for a longer lunch break at the shelter. Bring your own coffee/soup/whole meal if you want such things.
The road will probably be reasonable, but might as well take more capable vehicles if we can (I have a 4WD and two pairs of chains.) I'll put St. David's down as the meetup, but we can also arrange car-pooling from elsewhere if more convenient.
