This trip is lead by Mountain Skills Academy & Adventures by a professional ACMG certified guide. MSAA is offering a special price for BCMC members of $764.10 (regular price for non-members: $891.45). 

Trip Details:

The hut is located 90 minutes North East of Whistler in the Duffey Lake area. The remote location is home to one of the finest backcountry skiing. Your guide will lead from the parking lot through old-growth forests and alpine meadows to the hut. The hut is located in Marriot Basion in alpine meadows, and you can scout your next ski line from the hut.

Access to the hut is from Duffey Lake Road. From the parking lot to the hut is 12km with a 520m elevation gain. The trip takes 2 -3 hours. The terrain around the hut gives lots of options, from gentle or steep tree skiing to long alpine runs.

The Wendy Thompson Hut: The hut is a two-storey gothic arch design that can accommodate 16 people in an upstairs loft. The hut has a wood stove for heat in the common area and a kitchen area to prepare food.

Transport: Transport to the parking lot is not included, and limited spots are available for purchase.

• Poles (telescopic poles required for splitboarders)

Itinerary: 

Day 1

• 8:00 am meet for gear and check waiver
• 8:30 am drive to Duffey Lake Road
• 10:30 am leave from the parking lot towards the hut ( 2 -3 hour approach)
• - Drop gear off at the hut and possibly ski the rest of the afternoon.
• - Evening food with Guide and debrief.

Day 2

• Morning Breakfast.
• 9:00am Skiing until afternoon
• Evening food with Guide and debrief.

Day 3

• Morning Breakfast.
• Ski to the parking lot and drive back to Whistler
• Debrief

Payment:

Deposit Rule: Pay only 50% of the booking cost now to reserve your spot then pay the remainder 30 days before the course/trip start date. Select the option at checkout to redeem.

(1) Click “Join this trip” on the left hand side of the page. You will be added to the Waiting List

(2) Once on the Waiting List you will have access to the Tour Online Payment on the left side of the page where you will find the promo code. Complete your payment directly with MSAA HERE  using the promo code. Be sure to select the right date in the drop down menu. You will receive a confirmation email from MSAA once your payment is completed.

(3) Forward your confirmation email to courses@bcmc.ca. You will then be added to the Confirmed List.
