Ski touring to the Gargoyles

This is a 26km, 1100m gain ski tour to the Gargoyles area.

The objective is to summit the Gargoyles (1823m) after checking out the approach slopes for coverage and conditions.

Moderate pace. Likely returning after dark.

Gear required: Your own 10 essentials.

Backcountry ski equipment.

Digital transceiver, Metal Shovel, Probe. Headlamp suitable for skiing. 

We wear helmets for the downhill skiing sections.

Items such ice axe, ski crampons & other equipment to be discussed during pre-planning.

Always be prepared to return after dark.

Review the 10 essentials and bring with you what is appropriate for this activity.

Organizer will bring GPS watch with tracks; GMRS Radios; inReach/Personal Locator Beacon; Basic first aid kit.

Winter tires and carry chains required to access Diamond Head upper parking.

5:30am: Attendance and final carpooling plans at West Van meeting location.
