Trip Description

I still think it's a bit early for skiing, at least for me personally.  Snowshoes are easier to carry if there's bootpacking, and I don't care about scratching them if there's rocks.

Parking's at 970m; I expect some or all of the lower trail will be faster to hike (but bring microspikes if you have them).  We'll probably need snowshoes around and above the hut (1400m). Depending on where we turn around, around 9-11km return with 400-600m elevation.

Current forecast shows clear skies through the weekend, but they're unreliably this far out, so pack rain gear.  And of course the 10 essentials are, as always, well, essential.  Avalanche gear and training is also required, and we can do some beacon search practising around the hut.

I'll pack a stove, so can plan for a longer lunch break at the shelter.  Bring your own coffee/soup/whole meal if you want such things.

The road will probably be reasonable, but might as well take more capable vehicles if we can (I have a 4WD and two pairs of chains.)  I'll put St. David's down as the meetup, but we can also arrange car-pooling from elsewhere if more convenient.
