Early season ski to Elfin Lakes (approx 22 km, 600m gain). We probably won't get in proper turns as there isn't much base, but it'll be nice to get back on skis again. We might have to walk up a bit from the car to get to the snow line. We can do a round of companion rescue practice if we desired.
Early season conditions: there are no avalanche forecasts out yet, and there isn't much of a base of snow. So you should be capable of skiing in control on a road with patchy snow. Completion of AST1 and avalanche equipment (beacon, probe, shovel) mandatory.
Apres optional (Locavore?)
Marie has a trip to the same area targeted at future trip leaders with multiple years of experience, whereas this trip will be suitable for a broader audience so long as you've completed AST1 have been out enough to know how to use your gear.
