Wednesday edit: There may be more snow up there than I thought, so we'll probably carry snowshoes and may even use them.  We won't go above the hut, so we won't get into avalanche terrain.

I want to know how much snow is up there, and what better way to find out than to go look?

Parking's at 970m; I expect the Red Heather shelter at 1400m will almost certainly be hikeable (but bring microspikes if you have them).  We may climb a ways up the ridge beyond that depending on how much snow there is.  Might as well bring avi gear too, in case there's enough snow above the hut for it to be warranted.  Current forecast shows a break in the rain for Saturday, but they're unreliably this far out, so pack rain gear.  And of course the 10 essentials are, as always, well, essential.

I'll pack a stove, so can plan for a longer lunch break at the shelter.  Bring your own coffee/soup/whole meal if you want such things (and extra water to boil unless you prefer to scrounge for snow).

The road will probably be reasonable, but might as well take more capable vehicles if we can (I have a 4WD and chains for all corners.)  I'll put St. David's down as the meetup, but we can also arrange car-pooling from elsewhere if more convenient.
