Whitebark Pine Restoration in Manning Park
We will be joining the The Whitebark Pine Ecosystem Foundation of Canada this weekend in Manning Park along with a biologist and volunteers who work with BC Parks to maintain trails and support many of the recreational activities that can be pursued here.
Whitebark Pine is a keystone species essential to ecosystem function on many alpine and sub-alpine sites. It is a species at risk and is being recovered in Manning Park.
Reaching out to a few BCMC members and friends to help out on Saturday. We will be hiking the Skyline trail, learning about Whitebark Pine, and carefully planting a few specially cultivated seedlings.
After this trip we will find a camping spot to stay over for Frosty trip on Sunday.
Meeting 8:55am in Manning Park at Spruce Bay parking.
