Lets spend two days ice climbing at the Coleman Glacier.

Meet up is at Tim Horton right before the Sumas border crossing  near PetSmart around 7 am Saturday August 27.

We can use the forum to arrange for car pooling.

Gear list:

-camping gear, we are staying overnight.

-helmet, harness, crampons (steel), ice tools, 3 long ice screws, anchor material, rope.

-Many pairs of thin layered gloves. Pair of goggles, appropriate clothing ( it may rain), lunch, snacks, warm thermos drinks preferably extra dark hot chocolate.

-Bring cash for the driver if you are getting a ride.

-Your emergency contact.

-Insurance coverage ( BCAA) just for that day and passport or other way to get in i.e. bribing an officier or digging a tunnel might work. 

-sense of humour.

The Plan

Get to Heliotrope Ridge Parking Lot (expect extra 2 hours hike since there is a washout earlier on the road) and hike in to the glacier about 2 hours.

Camping spots may be at the glacier or at Mirkwood.

We are expecting to stay till 6-7 pm on Sunday evening.

Rain or shine this trip is a go.

This is a warm-up for the upcoming alpine ice climbing season, gear testing, and sharing techniques.
