St David's Church 6am Saturday August 27th
Being the highest peak in the western Cayoosh Range with over 700 m prominence Mt. Marriott is not a secret in the SW BC scrambling and peak-bagging community. The route from Marriott Basin accessed from Duffey Lake Road is well-written in Matt Gunn’s Scrambles in SW British Columbia. The approach would be by the “standard route” for the club trip. The scramble is rated as moderate and has little exposure. Planned time to the peak is 5-7 hours (estimate) and 4-5 hours return. I have not done this scramble personally, so it will be a exploratory adventure.
I have opted for an overnight trip due to the long drive(s) and shorter days. A reasonable and successful day trip would involve leaving at 4am or earlier and returning late at night!
The weather report (Mount Marriott Weather Forecast (2735m) (mountain-forecast.com ) looks favorable with slightly cooler temperatures over the weekend.
I can drive leaving from Lower Lonsdale in North Vancouver and can pick up people on the way to St David's Church. I can accommodate and transport up to 3 other people. Carpooling is encouraged :)
I will let people know if for any reason this trip is cancelled or does not have enough registrants via text and email by latest Friday mid-morning. I will be seeing if there is any room at the hut, it is likely booked as it is summer time.
This is a last minute spur of the moment trip. If I cannot have at least three/four members signed up by Friday AM the trip will be postponed or cancelled. BCMC members preferred over guests
