Weather looks good on Saturday to get some nice views on Evans Peak. This hike requires a BC Parks Day Pass and will be contingent upon getting this (more details below).
Hike approx. 9km, 950m elevation. We'll aim to take around 5 hours at a chill pace. This isn't the hike for you if you are looking to set a FKT.
More details about the route here: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/canada/british-columbia/evans-peak-trail
I haven't done this one before but it will be quite steep and there is a fixed line in places requiring a short "scramble" and possible limited exposure. Proper footwear, poles (if you use them), adequate water, sunscreen & bug spray are all good ideas.
Meet at Haney Place Mall at 6:30am, depart 6:45. We will aim to enter Golden Ears at 7am, when the gates open, to have the most time and parking spots available.
We will need a day pass to access Golden Ears, which are available from Thursday 7am. The pass is per vehicle and will cover us for the AM period. Carpooling would be best to limit the amount of passes and parking spots we need. I am based in Maple Ridge and can take 3 others. I will attempt to secure a pass Thursday morning for one vehicle. We can arrange car pools and passes in the planning forum.
