I've been fascinated by the huge granite spires of the Bugaboos since before I even knew what rock climbing was, and I'm beyond excited to go check out this area for the first time!
The Bugaboos are home to some truly incredible granite spires, nestled in among pristine glaciers. The routes can range from 5.4 to 5.12 and boast some incredible, first-class alpine climbing.
I have a climbing partner for this trip so I'm mostly looking for other pairs of climbers to join the trip and choose their own routes and objectives. We've been looking at a couple routes and are thinking of tackling:
- West Ridge (Pigeon Spire), 5.4, PD
- Kain Route (Bugaboo Spire), 5.6, AD
One of my goals is to do Northeast Ridge on Bugaboo Spire but it may not be possible. The spirit of this trip is very much exploratory, as I've never been to the area and am not familiar with the terrain beyond beta from guidebooks and friends.
I have a week booked off work for the end of August, so we could ideally all carpool down and pitch our tents at the Applebee campsite.
