A potentially good end of shoulder season hike/scramble. It may rain (given that I'm proposing this well in advance). Pace will be moderate to casual, length is ~15km. We will likely start from Lion's Bay, unless we can coordinate a drop off/pick up at Tunnel Point, which seems highly unlikely.
Rain gear is also advised: this is June-uary, after all. What is heavy rain? I will probably pull the plug if its 25mm+. We can also negotiate a shorter, more manageable objective. It may be a long day, so headlamp is a must! I'm probably going to wear hiking boots and gaiters for the mud. You could probably get away with trainers, but anticipate wet terrain. Unlikely to be ice, but I've never done this hike before, so we shall see. I will bring microspikes, given that ice or snow higher up seems likely. Anyway, expect some views, good company, and cold rain. And its a North Shore ascent, so you can claim another Peakbagger objective.
Check out AllTrails (Hat Mountain) for more info.
Meeting time and place (as directed on the side panel): St. David's parking lot, North Vancouver, just off of Taylor Way and Highway 1. 7:00AM.
