Moved/postponed from March 26-27 and April 2-3 due to weather
Mamquam Mtn, April 9-10
Overnight SkiMo for fit, experienced skiers up to the 2,588m summit.
Expect ~35km over the two days, gaining about 1,900m. There will be some steep sections, so comfort on challenging terrain is a must. I haven't been up Mamquam before, however from speaking to others and based on reports, I expect some similarity to our late March trip up Garibaldi in 2018.
Expect some light bushwhacking once we're off the road, and variable snow and conditions over equally varied and epic terrain. Camp will likely be on the bench near Darling Lake. We’ll judge in situ.
Before signing up, please understand the route, conditions, and your equipment and ability for a trip like this. Have at least AST 1 (recommend AST 2) and >1 year of experience in similar terrain. Note that significant glacier travel is involved.
I am the organizer, however I’m not the guide. You are. Well, we all are. Participants must be:
· willing and able to Lead the trip. Do your research, if for no other reason than for your own safety
· experienced, capable, and well-equipped for backcountry travel.
· in excellent physical condition and can finish the Grind or 10 km run in under 60 mins
· a team player ready and willing to contribute to a successful trip and a fun group experience.
· able to share at least one half-decent joke. I can't stress enough how critical this last requirement is.
Avy and weather forecast will have final say on timing/status. Logistics to be worked out in the forum. Thanks
