Trip Description

Mt Chief Pascall in the Duffey Lake area is a nice, classic trip with complex/challenging terrain for skiers and boarders alike.

The weather is supposed to be very good and avalanche conditions are improving, but it's hard to tell what sort of snow pack to expect. One MIN of a few days ago sounded enticing, but we all know what difference a few days can make.

My hope is to make the summit, but of course we'll let local conditions dictate how far it makes sense to proceed. Great views are guaranteed regardless.

All participants are expected to evaluate safety prior and during the trip.

We can discuss details in the planning forum, but the general idea is to meet at either the Cayoosh Pass or at the Cerise Creek (5 km further east) parking lot at 8:30 am.

I will have a couple of track options loaded on my GaiaGPS, but I suggest participants load it on theirs too.

This trip is suitable for anyone with a handful of touring trips under their belt, as long as they are confident skiers/riders (black diamond runs under ANY conditions), and they are fit and don't mind tree skinning/skiing/riding. Pace will be no slower than moderate.

Bring your avalanche safety gear (transceiver, probe, shovel) and your 10 essentials (e.g., here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-Ae6OKjb6I). It might be a good idea to bring ski crampons too.

Feel free to text me if that's more efficient.
