This is a nice trip with some challenging skiing/riding down a crusty gully and or trees. Plan is to skin up holly burn, ski down to the bottom of Strachan, then skin up Strachan and ski down xmas gully or the ski hill depending on the vibe.
The weather and conditions seem promising, but we've had no new snow for a while, plus lots of rain on top of the earlier snow pack, so I can't guarantee powder, but the views should be rewarding! All participants are expected to evaluate safety prior and during the trip.
Meet at 8:30 am at the southern end of parking lot 3B along Cypress Bowl Road, before the shed.
This trip is suitable for newcomers to ski-touring, have their AST 1, who are confident skiers/riders (black diamond runs under ANY conditions) as long as they are fit and don't mind tree skiing/riding on crust. Pace will be moderate, w/ union breaks.
Bring your avalanche safety gear (transceiver, probe, shovel) and your 10 essentials (e.g., here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-Ae6OKjb6I).
Details regarding route and plan for the day will be discussed in the planning forum.
