With a week of warm weather and no fresh snow, I have little optimism for good skiing to be had. So I'm planning a long fitness touring day with minimal turns but hopefully maximum reward with views! 

We will aim to start from Cheakamus Lake parking area and make our way up Helm Creek. We are able to stay on very mellow slopes all the way to Panorama Ridge, which is my ideal objective. I wouldn't be expecting many turns, but we should be able to get skins off most (definitely not all) of the way down. I am intending to ski back down the ridge the way we came up, but depending on group enthusiasm and conditions assessment we could look at a line off the N/NE of the ridge. An alternative/additional option are some  laps of Cinder Cone if there are miraculously favorable conditions. 

This will be a long day, and I intend to be moving at a continuous moderate pace. Expect at least ~32km and 1450m of elevation gain if we go to panorama ridge. Please ensure your fitness and endurance is adequate to keep a good pace for this distance, and you have your gear dialed. As such, despite the friendly terrain and easy skiing this isn't a beginner trip and you should have some experience with longer days backcountry. 

I expect each participant to be capable of independently creating a route, navigating in the mountains and leading a safety meeting. I am an organiser NOT a leader, and group decision making will be key throughout the day. 

We can organise carpools from St David's or Squamish as long as everyone is fully vaccinated (non-negotiable).
