The forecast on Sunday is showing blue skies, and warm afternoon temps! Expect spring skiing conditions, although perhaps the powder will survive for us.
I propose we tour the beautiful long ridge up to Alpaca Peak. Baldwin's guide describes it as "a great ridge tour, best saved for sunny days when the snow is better suited to touring than turns". The ridge is "wide on top and easy to travel, with great views."
It will be a long-ish day, 18km round trip, and over 1250m gain, so please be comfortable with this. If you have ski crampons, bring them, but if not it should be ok (the forest uptracks could be icy in the morning).
We should be back to the car before dark, but bring a headlamp just in case.
If the group wants, there are options to add Iago Peak or Ottomite too.
We can coordinate carpooling. I can take up to 3 people with me.
