A quick day of hiking and spooooky scrambling, finishing early enough that we can get home to give chocolate to children.
This is 95% hiking, and a little bit of scrambling and via ferrata. We start at Slhanay Parking, scramble up to Peak 3, hike to Peak 2, scramble down to the notch, and then scramble up the via ferrata to Peak 1. From there, we take the normal Peak 1 trail down, and walk the road back to the car.
This video shows most of the cruxy terrain between 11:53, and 14:30 --> https://youtu.be/DfPMgNDcSTc?t=713
***You should be confident scrambling low 5th class terrain in hiking shoes and a backpack.***
IF things are wetter/muddier than we like, we can take easier bypasses and skip Peak 1, or even Peak 2 altogether. Lots of options. I've done this traverse before, I don't mind if we don't hit all the peaks!
The traverse is around 800m vert, and 9km round trip. Expect a moderate to fast pace. It took me 4hrs last time, including getting lost, and photographing chipmunks.
The plan is to park at Slhanay. If we have multiple vehicles, we could leave a vehicle at the Chief Campground Parking or the Apron, to save us some walking.
I'll be staying out in Squamish after, but others are welcome to arrange carpooling.
PS: Costumes are not mandatory, but are encouraged.
