Fall is here and the colours in the estuary are beautiful and seals are plentiful... which means a great time for a paddle!
I'll be on a SUP, but you use a different vessel too :P
We'll meet at the first culvert of the Squamish spit at 4 and aim to launch for 4:30, off water by 6:30/7. Pending the wind/water levels, we can either paddle down the lower squamish river and back in the estuary to our cars, or just paddle in the estuary. Maybe 2-3 hrs pending everyone's energy.
Yes - it's fall so its a little chilly.. but that just means dress warm! Similar layering to hiking - weather synthetic clothes that can get wet (i.e., tights or rain pants for bottoms, and warm base layer with shell for top; and add in any additional mid layers). Hats, gloves, and booties also recommended, but could also use sneakers if you don't have booties.
To Bring:
- Board, paddle, leash
- PFD with whistle
- Warm clothes
- Dry bag with an extra layer/jacket (in case of a fall in)
- Head lamp
- Water/snacks / hot drinks
See you on the water!
