I'm reposting this trip, hoping that the weather will be better. At the moment I'm writing, the forecast looks promising.
===============================================================
Robie Reid: 20km round and 2377m total elevation gain!
There are 4 main sections: a flat ish section near the lake (3km), a very steep and technical hiking in the forest with some bushwhacking (3.5km - 1200m elevation gain), a short plateau with tarns (0.8km) and the climbing section with two/three class 4 cruxes and an exposed ledge (2.3km - 700m elevation gain). Explore Mount Robie Reid Trail | AllTrails
We will leave Vancouver on Friday around noon and camp on the plateau before the snow field. On Saturday we will start the climb early (6am ish) and go back home for dinner.
This will be a physically challenging trip: it requires fitness, experience, appropriate gear (crampons, axe, helmet, rope and harnesses) and being comfortable with exposure.
For more details I would suggest to read the report written by Steven Song - Mount Robie Reid | Steven's Peak-bagging Journey (stevensong.com) - and watch on YouTube the following video: Mt. Robie Reid (Crux Sections w/ POV) - YouTube.
Meet up location, number of cars and logistics will be decided during a Zoom call hold few days prior the trip.
The trip will be however confirmed only in case of good weather conditions. In case of chances of rain and/or no visibility and/or not 2 straight days of good weather prior the trip, I will cancel again.
The road to the trail head seems rough beyond km 11 on the service road so a high clearance vehicle could be required.
I'm the organizer, not the leader but whoever wants to participate must be okay stay and proceed in group, at pace of the slowest member. No lonely wolfs please.
