Forecast is quite good for the area (not expecting a ton of rain on Sat & Sunday, but smoke should clear a bit with the Friday rain). Always wanted to explore this area, being relatively new to Vancouver, and this seems like a great time!
Road is 2WD accessible.
Planning on hiking to the lake Saturday afternoon, spending the night, and having a go at the scrambles early in the morning.
If the group doesn't want to camp, we could also attempt it as a day trip.
Tszil seems to be a more moderate scramble on the way to Slalok.
Following the Matt Gunn book for Slalok: approx 1500m elevation gain to Slalok, ~7 hrs. Rated as a difficult, exposed scramble so will be bringing helmet and possibly rope, depending on group decision.
The views should be great if the smoke clears up after Friday as forecasted.
We should get some nice views of the Stonecrop and Tszil glaciers!
