The purpose of this trip is two-fold. I'll be up clearing the lower section of trail. People are welcome to come. They can either help out on the trail or spend the day hiking in the hills. All I'm doing is opening the gate for people to convoy up and down the road with me. I am not running a trip for you. I'm not organizing a hike for anyone. I expect that people must be very experienced if they are going hiking. This is not an area for beginners. I encourage everyone to get into a group and look out for one another.
All people joining up for hiking must be able to navigate the backcountry on their own, have the experience to be on their own in the backcountry, be properly equipped and informed about the trail, its hazards and difficulties, determine their turnaround time to be back at the trail head in time to convoy down the road. There is very limited or no cell service in the area. I encourage people to join into groups or come with a partner. Have rescue equipment such as InReach.
This is a rare opportunity to drive your vehicle to the trail head and avoid the 11 km slog in on the logging road. I have the key to the gate. We'll drive up and park at Cyrtina Creek. People can hike the trail and get back to the vehicles around 5 PM. We'll then drive down the road and I'll let everyone out of the gate.
Your vehicle must be 4WD with sufficient clearance for crossing drainage ditches up to 1.5 meters deep and loose gravel.
If people try to contact me, email is preferred. Don't send text messages. I don't receive them on my home phone. My cell number is 604 785-9848. It does receive text messages but I only turn it on sporadically during the trip meet up.
