If we're unable to drive up past the lower microwave towers to the ridge (4x4 capability will determine if this is a 4 or 6 hour trip). Expect a 6 hr trip to be safe. Regardless, the road is quite steep, with small water bars.
Gain: ~1575m
Kms: ~13 (round)
Summit: 2506 m
More info can be found in the Scrambles book or on the world wide web. Mostly hiking except for a couple of Class 3 steps. No plans to go on the glacier, so leave that gear at home unless you want to explore further.
Looking at the forecast, I not sure crampons will do much, and an ice axe might also be only valuable for summit photos. That said, perhaps bring the above as many slopes will be steep. A brain bucket however is something I always recommend.
There's a great pictorial report (October) here: https://forums.clubtread.com/27-british-columbia/43474-beginner-partial-access-guide-birkenhead-peak.html
