EDIT:
Trip is now full.
Meeting at 6am in the S2S gondola parking lot. Planning on hiking up from the parking lot because (apparently) the cost of a ride up is now a whopping 56$. I'm not a super fast hiker so we're planning to move at a reasonable pace and take it easy.
Route is from scrambles book.
We'll be crossing the lower portion of the Stadium Glacier to gain the west ridge, so expect steep snow and small crevasses. The glacier is fairly small so will not be roping up to cross it. Climbing the ridge requires significant amount of scrambling with some exposed 4th/ low 5th class portions. Ideally we'd like to have a 40/60m rope on hand for possibly rappelling down the pink slab. If you have one, please let me know! Saves us from bringing our bulky climbing ropes.
Bring a helmet, ice axe, crampons. Everyone joining the trip should have significant experience scrambling, traversing snow, and setting up a rappel.
I'll be bringing a first aid kit and headlamp, and recommend that others do as well.
Friends have been up there recently and have reported variable snow conditions (soft, wet, unstable) so prepare for that.
Please fill out the COVID questionnaire prior to joining the trip.
