Cathedral Park Lodge base camp near Keremeos at 1:00 pm. on July 8
Cathedral park has something for everyone. There are great trails into the alpine meadows and multi-pitch climbs on some of the surrounding peaks and walls. The park is accessed by a long (15 km, 1500m) trail or you can take the bus which will drop you off 150 m from a beautiful campsite on a lake. The cost of the bus into the park is $120 each way, but you can bring your coolers and lawn chairs. This is the ideal place to go for two to three days of hiking. Please check out http://cathedrallakes.ca/ for transportation information and booking transportation and https://bcparks.ca/explore/parkpgs/cathedral/ for information and to book a backcountry permit. I have made my booking for July 8 (2:00 pm) to July 12 (9:00 am) for the transportation. I will not be organizing other participants' transportation to or from the alpine campground but will be leading full-day hikes from the campground once you are up there. I am also available to answer questions, although a great deal of information is available on the internet sites listed above. Please read that first. Participants are free to join me on my hikes or wander at will on their own. There are good trails that are well marked and even good fishing in the lakes. This trip is suitable for young children, those who like a nice walk in an alpine meadow, those looking for a full day hike or those seeking a challenging climb. Given the current COVID situation, I will not be organizing carpooling or group meals, but we can get together for the hikes that I will be leading. I travel at a fairly quick pace, so you should be able to do the Grind in about 70 min or less if you are joining me.
