Scimitar Knoll is a rarely climbed peak above Thunder Lake. I made the first ski descent April 20th, 2014. I don't think it's been skied since. The one-way distance is just under 10 km with 1000 meters of elevation gain and a loss of 180 m. I did it as a half day trip at the time. The descent route is different from the up route and is quite interesting. It's surprisingly open terrain for skiing for the most part.
Suitable trip for advanced intermediate or better skiers. Fitness level must be reasonable but days are long.
Headlamp required and spare batteries. Avalanche beacons, shovels required. Bring warm clothes.
If people try to contact me, email is preferred. Don't send text messages. I don't receive them on my home phone. My cell number is 604 785-9848. It does receive text messages but I only turn it on sporadically during the trip meet up.
We'll meet at Lightning Lake day use area at 8:30 AM since carpooling is not allowed.
The parking is reached off Gibson Pass Road off Highway 3 at Manning Park Lodge. There is parking and an outhouse at the day use area.
