Mount Thynne is reached from Britton Creek rest area. The crux of the trip is the climb of 400 meters from the rest area through unroaded timber to logging roads high above that come in from Brookmere. We'll follow logging roads across a level upland to within 2 km of the summit. We'll continue from the road through glades and forest to gain the final 400 meter to the summit, where there are communications towers. The one-way distance is about 12 km with 1200 meters of elevation gain.
Suitable trip for advanced intermediate or better skiers. Fitness level must be reasonable but days are long.
Headlamp required and spare batteries. Avalanche beacons, shovels required. Bring warm clothes.
