This is a practice session for members and NON-MEMBERS who have completed a First Aid course within the last 2 years. This is NOT a course, but an opportunity to refresh your knowledge and strengthen your skills.
We will practice the basics: assessment, life saving, stabilizing and sheltering patients, and transporting to safety. We'll also review the contents of your First Aid kit!
Please bring your First Aid kit, and supplies and equipment to support our practice (eg. tarp, cord, blanket, webbing, inflatable foamy, shelter, duct tape, tent pegs, knife, etc.).
We'll practice OUTDOORS under the large open-air shelter on Granville Island, just west of the water park. The water park is west of the False Creek Community Centre. There is free 2 hour parking and also pay parking nearby. The shelter has picnic tables with a large open area, and is protected from the rain.
Start time is 3:00PM. Allow 2 hours for practice in the remaining daylight.
Dress warmly, bring your Covid mask, HEADLAMP, snacks, lunch, a hot drink, and your cheery self! :)
For those who'd enjoy getting together AFTER we practice, there are lots of places nearby to warm up, debrief, and socialize.
