Please answer all of of the questions in the BC Covid-19 Symptom Self Assessment Tool questionnaire found here: https://bc.thrive.health/covid19/en. You will be required to provide your results in the screening questions. My results are: "You don’t appear to have symptoms of COVID-19".
Recently moved to Van so I don't have experience hiking the North Shore in the off-season. Based on last weekend's trip there is likely significant snow. Hopefully we should be able to make it a decent amount of the way up with microspikes and good boots.
The forecast says Saturday should be clear skies, and it should be just above freezing for the majority of the way up. It might be very snowy, so please ensure you bring waterproof boots, gloves, and clothes (if you don't want to get too wet) as well as microspikes/crampons of some sort. I'm personally comfortable scrambling (to some degree) on a mixture of snow/rock. However, we will likely have to turn back at some point once the scrambling gets too treacherous.
Goals: I'm aiming for the west summit but even that might be a stretch this time of year. Nothing is guaranteed, but I wanted to get out and explore!
Byo bear spray!
If you've done this mountain in October before and would prefer a different one, we can definitely change the objective.
I have a car and can drive 2 other people. We'll likely be shooting for an 8am start.
We'll have a group Zoom call Friday night to iron out the details.
