Trip Description

This trip explores a remote area in the eastern side of the Duffey Lake road and will include camping by alpine lakes and working our way off trail through an alpine pass to connect with a different drainage area that will get us back to the logging road where the vehicle is parked. Ideally 2 4WD vehicles would be preferable. If only one 4WD is available, we will have to hike 4 km to get back to the car on the logging road with a 1000 feet descent.

We will start the trip by the Saddlebag trail (it is a reasonable trail with some deadfall last year). Our first camp could be the Saddlebag lakes. Next day we go up Mt Seton (steep but very beautiful), come back and go over the pass between Trilateral and Skimka (easy) and camp in the lower lakes. The next day we come out joining the Holly Lake trail to the upper car.

You need to be very comfortable hiking in the alpine on steep talus and steep meadows off trail. There will be some route finding, but I have been in the area twice and will not be difficult. This trip is for people who enjoy alpine travelling and collaborative decision making.
