The plan is to head up Friday after work around 4pm, and bivy at the Ridge. The next day we'll attempt to reach the summit and return home. The summit day could take somewhere from between 11 to 18 hours, so you will need a high level of fitness and be confident with glacier travel, crevasse rescue. I will use screening to select participants who have these skills, as well as who have shown themselves to be reliable club members - this is not a good first trip.
You must have recent experience in:
- Roped glacier travel
- Crevasse rescue
Gear required:
- Crampons and 2 ice axes
- Rope. Oudi will bring 60 m 8.6 mm half rope.
- Harness, helmet
- Crevasse rescue equipment
- Headlamp/torch
- bivy gear
- 10 essentials, other gear
Emergency Info:
Make sure your Emergency contact is up to date. You will need this to attend the trip.
