Info from Brian Sheffield:
This will be an exploratory trip into the backcountry through the bush up into the alpine in a remote
area that has no trails. You must have previous experience in this kind of travel and be used to carrying
a backpack for a week or doing the Grind in under an hour. It will be about a seven-hour drive over the
Hurley Pass road and then up Downton Lake to the end of the Bridge River FSR. At the end is an old
mining road which ascends the creek just north of Nichols Creek. Most likely we will have to walk five to
ten km of old road. From the end of the road we will ascend steeply up through forest to the alpine and
then continue to a base camp at Griswold Pass. From there, there are many day trips in the alpine to
scrambly summits. In the event that the road is not passable, plan B would be to head up Slim Creek
and access the alpine from there. Please see the following link for an idea of the terrain.

(Brian Sheffield and IanĀ McGillivray will be meeting us in Gold Bridge. I can take up to 4 passengers in my car)
