I have 2 campsites at Lake Louise campground Aug 15-22nd (departure Aug 23rd). I would like to spend that time climbing easy to moderate multi-pitch routes. My mountaineering objective is the East Ridge of Edith Cavell (Grade III, 5.4). But I can easily be talked into more mountaineering-alpine trips in the area.
All the participants should be able to lead trad, at least 5.7 difficulty. The routes I'm looking into are quite easy, up to 5.7 trad, but if stronger climbers join, the list can be changed/expanded.
The trip is limited to 6 participants, but if the guidelines change, we can expand it to 8.
Gear - trad/sport rock climbing gear. Helmets - mandatory! For Edith Cavell - crampons, ice axe, mountaineering boots. I suggest we put some pickets and ice screws in the cars in case we want to try some other mountaineering objective.
Possible climbs:
Mount Edith Cavell, East Ridge (III, 5.4)
Takakkaw Falls: High and dry, 5.7 trad,10 p.; Takakkaw falls route, 5.6 trad, 12 p.
Mount Rundle: Rundlehorn, 5.6, Sport, 11 p.; MacLab Slab, 5.6 Sport, 8 p.; Gold Rush, 5.7, Sport, 14 p.; Sunriser, 5.9, sport, 6 p.
Cascade mountain: Wheat Kings, 5.7, Sport, 7.p.
Ha Ling, NE face, 5.6, mixed, 11 p.
Tower of Babel, 5.8, all trad, 7 p.
Many climbs at Yamnuska.
Cost: the campsites are $471 (total). The cost will be divided between the participants.
All participants should answer all of the questions of the BC Covid-19 Symptom Self Assessment Tool questionnaire prior the trip:
