• Distance: 10km each way to the lake
• Elevation Gain: 605m (net)

Rough Itinerary:

• Saturday Morning - hike to Elsay Lake and set up tents
• Saturday Afternoon - explore the area as time and conditions permit (or just chill out and drink tea)
• Sunday Morning - hike out

Backcountry camping is permitted in Mount Seymour Provincial Park past Brockton Point. The camping location is located at approx. 800m elevation (near the emergency shelter) - I expect this to be well below the snow line. There is a creek to cross on the way (so poles and some kind of footwear that can get wet may be a good idea).

Note: I have lots of backcountry experience, but I haven't done this particular route before. I don't expect it to be too difficult, so beginners welcome.

• Good hiking boots
• Backcountry camping gear
• Rope to hang your food with
• There may still be some snow on the trail (webcams at the top of the Seymour ski area still show some snow - hopefully most of that has melted by when the trip starts but micro-spikes, poles and/or gaiters might be a good idea just in case)
• 10 essentials
• Funny jokes
