This course is for BCMC members only looking to obtain or improve companion rescue skills. Course will be held June and 20-21, 2020.
Note 1: if this course is not fully booked, i.e. 6 paid participants, this course may be cancelled and refunds will be provided to those that paid.
Base Course Fee: $235 + GST (Special BCMC Members price).
Course Objectives and Itinerary: Taught by Canada West Mountain School (CWMS). This Crevasse Rescue course is ideal for Hikers and all outdoor enthusiasts looking to venture onto Glaciated terrain in summer or winter. Focusing on building a foundation of Crevasse Rescue skills, you will spend one day in Squamish or North Vancouver learning rope handling and technical rope skills and techniques applicable to all rope rescue systems, followed by a 2nd day in a local alpine area where you will apply crevasse rescue skills on snow. This course provides a very intensive and hands-on learning experience.
Equipment: This
CWMS two day course will include all technical equipment and guiding/instruction services by the guide. Please note that participants will have to supply their own mountaineering gear (Mountaineering boots, crampons, food, proper clothing). See

Prerequisites: Participants must be in good physical condition with previous hiking experience. This 2-day course does not require prior climbing or rope handling experience.
