A hidden gem in the Squamish river area: the views from the ridge are mind blowing and is almost guarantee to be the only ones around there:)
Please note the trip date has changed to Sunday.
There is a Plan B, in case the forecast does not work for Cayley: Mt Cheam, in the Chilliwack area.
The plan is to access the alpine area via the Shovelnose Creek FSR, which gives us very easy access to a nice easy going traverse along side Mt Fee, towards Mt Cayley and Pyroclastic Peak.
Please note that we will NOT attempt to climb Mt Cayley, but we will explore the area and maybe go to the top of another minor peak from the area, conditions allowing, of course. This is NOT a mountaineering trip but a ski touring trip:)
Please be considerate and do not sign up unless you are 100% committed for the trip and you are at least an intermediate skier(can do black runs in any conditions, including trees) in the Backcountry. If you never skied with me, you must contact me before signing up!
Will be moving at a moderate pace. Not for slow people, sorry.
We are going to use an FSR to access the alpine, so the actual distance will vary as to how high we can drive: a good 4x4 is required for this FSR. For the last 2-3KM on the FSR, will carry the gear in one of the 4x4 cars to the snow line.
There is no carpooling with the exception of members of the same household, or people within exclusive “social bubbles”.
