Trip Description

This is a car to summit trip, we will not be camping overnight. Fitness will play a role on this trip, so please make sure you feel capable of 7400ft elevation gain in one day. In the 2 weeks leading up to the trip, I would like to do 2-3 sessions of doing the grouse grind twice in an evening as preparation (up the Flint and Feather, down BCMC, up Grind, down Gondola).

We will be meeting Friday evening in Washington near Mount Baker, and driving up together to the trailhead. We will be leaving the cars at 10pm, arrive at the typical "basecamp" area by midnight. Take a break and prep gear, food, etc. We will leave basecamp at 1am, arrive at the summit by 7am, and retreat to base camp. From here we can take some time to rest or finish the descent down to the cars. I do not want anyone driving without having slept or rested, so please don't sign up if you plan to leave right way as I am not comfortable with the risks of driving with very little sleep and a long day on the mountain (and as a trip organizer I want to enforce this).

Rope teams of 3-4 preferred.

Screening will be used to make sure you are prepared for such a trip.

This trip will be cancelled if the forecast is poor.

You must have recent experience in:
- Roped glacier travel
- Crevasse rescue
- Snow camping

Gear required:
- Crampons and ice axe
- Rope (1 per 3 people)
- Harness, helmet
- Crevasse rescue equipment
- Headlamp/torch
- 10 essentials, other gear

Insurance:
STRONGLY CONSIDER trip insurance for the trip. Do you want to get bankrupt because you slipped and hurt your ankle?

Border:
You MUST have a valid passport or other travel document enabling you to cross the US border. Arrange your ESTA visa in advance to save time at the border if you need one.
Do NOT use the nexus lane unless everyone has a nexus card. Don't take fruit/vegetables across the border, it's not worth the hassle/risk - you can buy vegetables in the US easily, and no doubt you will enjoy the additional selection of food not available in Canada anyway.

Emergency Info:
Make sure your Emergency contact is up to date. You will need this to attend the trip.
