5:30am at St David's Church Parking Lot, North Vancouver
Daytrip to Rainbow Mountain via Nineteen Mile Creek.
Plan is to start on Whistler side, climb the SE ridge, summit (if conditions permit), and ski the big, beautiful east glacier line down to Nineteen Mile Creek. We'll loosely follow the trail out.
This trip involves approximately 1,700m of elevation gain and 20km round trip.
Participants should be prepared for 7 1/2 hours of steady climbing. We'll be going "military style" - 5 min break every hour. We might stop for 15-20 minutes for lunch.
Ski down involves a steep alpine section. You should feel confident skiing Double Black Diamond runs in alpine and Black Diamond trees.
Bring the usual avalanche safety equipment. Food should be quick and easy. Always bring a headlamp and extra batteries.
We'll meet at 5:30am at St David's United Church in North Van. We should be skinning before 8:00am!
