Basic outline:
Celebrate the re opening of the Sea to Sky Gondola. Scheduled reopening date is Feb 14, 2020. (https://www.seatoskygondola.com/blog/sea-sky-gondola-re-opening) Hopefully the access road towards the Sky Pilot group will be groomed. The idea is a point-and-shoot trip through Ledge couloir and then out via Exit couloir. This is all up to the group as we look up the various features though.
Mandatory equip:
Skis or splitboard, mountain travel gear, etc. You know what you need.
Pass to access the gondola. If you don't have a pass, you will need a ticket... which are 50% off that weekend!
Other suggested gear:
Helmet
Verts/plates/crampons. There has been basically 0 traffic up here all season and booting up a couloir could be deeeep.
Nice if you have them (I carry all of these):
PLB / VHF
Phone in IP67 case (If you use a mapping app, bring a phone battery pack)
Topo (NRCAN or an app) / Notebook
Meetup and other deets:
07:30 meeting at the rear parking lot of St. David's Church, West Van. 07:35 departure. I can drive me+3. I realize that this is quite early as the gondola does open much later than this, but I anticipate that this could be a busy day up there. I'd rather get passes in-hand and waiting for one of the earliest uploads possible.
