Mt Hatfield is just West of Hope. We'll leave the highway at the 8 Mile Creek FSR, which leads to another road on the North side of 11 Mile Creek.
It's 10km (one way) and 1713m elevation if we start at the highway (seems likely) and reach the summit (seems less likely).
8 Mile Creek FSR is in 2wd shape. The spur on the North of 11 Mile Creek has very deep waterbars, but we'll be stopped by snow before them anyway.
For skiing, the road along 11 Mile Creek is clear of brush and wide (or at least it was 2 years ago). There are a few deep ditches, but nothing too bad. The road does cross a few avalanche paths, so we may change routes if the danger is too high. At the end of the road, we could head toward Manson or Johnson Peak instead if the snow or terrain looks better.
Gear required: Avalanche gear (transceiver, probe, shovel), AT, tele, or splitboard equipment, headlamp.
Welcome additional gear: GPS, PLB, camera, first aid kit, radios.
