This will be a fun and informal session designed to illustrate where your skills are at. Be warned, they probably aren't very good... We'll split into groups and run through some avalanche rescue procedures. It's early season so the lifts are free if you purchased your Edge Card last spring. You'll need a beacon, probe and shovel, ski gear, and a backpack you can bury (put the pack in a garbage bag if you like). After digging around for a while we'll go for an easy tour or you can ski the resort.
Use the planning forum to organize rides to the mountain. I'll be leaving from Squamish and have room for two passengers. We'll meet at the Creekside Starbucks at 8:00 am., take the gondola up to the Roundhouse, then find a place to play in the snow. Please ensure your waiver is up to date. Make sure your batteries are charged and your gear is operational. It would be a good idea to review your avalanche training booklet and make sure you can operate your tools. Here's a link to an online tutorial from Avalanche Canada.
