I have been advised that the North Creek is actually unavailable at this time. This trip may be un-cancelled and re-booked as flying in on Feb 8/9/10 2020 and out on Feb 15 2020.
Basic outline:
Fly in to the North Creek hut and shred some interesting and remote lines. Some good objectives include Sugus, Pebble, McParlon Gl., Boomerang Gl. Sessel, Gunbarrel, etc. We will likely not ski as a big group of 10, but naturally form groups based on fitness and expectations as the trip progresses.
Personal equipment:
Skis, splitboard, snow/crevasse safety equipment, personal gear for a multi-day hut trip.
Personal breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks. If the group opts for shared dinners, teams of 2 will be expected to provide a meal for 10 on one night.
Group equipment:
I will bring a modest first aid kit, but a second should exist in the group. In addition, a personal care kit is also advisable.
I will bring a VHF and inReach, but other comms devices should exist in the group. Van Loon staging should have phone service, but the hut obviously does not.
Gear allowance:
You will be permitted to fly with one pair of skis/splitboard, one modest size bag, and one cardboard box (wine box). Weight is generally not an issue, but bulk should be kept to a minimum. More smaller bags are better than fewer large bags.
Meetup and logistics:
Meet at Saint Davids at n:nn AM for a convoy to Pemberton Airport for n:nn AM safety briefing. Group divides in two. First group loads the machine and flies in. Second group drives enough vehicles to shuttle 10 pax out to the first bridge on the Lillooet river FSR (Van Loon staging), or likely further.
Ski the local peaks for 5 days.
Ski back to the staging area Sunday morning.
Reverse shuttle to the last vehicles at Pemberton Airport.
Head home.
Staging in this manner reduces flight time, and therefore cost, significantly. 24-30 mins RT from Pemberton Airport vs ~12 minutes from Van Loon staging area.
Financials:
Full payment of $330 (or $440 if we only have 5 interested members) is due in advance no later than December 20, 2019. There are no refunds beyond Dec 20, 2019 unless your seat is filled by another BCMCer acceptable to the group. This trip will only run with either 5 or 10 persons, no other multiples.
