St. Davids Church in West Van at 6:00 am
We will meet at St. David's Church at 6:00 am as it is a long drive to the trail head, which is located about 10 km up the Hurley Pass road. It would be helpful to have 4WD for the 4 km of branch road to the parking lot, otherwise it is 2WD accessible to the turn off. The trail in is about 8 km through trees to the sub alpine meadows around the lake. The elevation gain is a modest 500 m. The cabin by the lake is closed for this weekend for annual maintenance and will not be accessible. All participants must bring standard camping equipment, including tents and stoves. Nice day trips lead up to Tenquille Peak and Copper Mt. We will probably stop in Pemberton on the way back. This will be a moderately fast paced trip. Please make sure you bring a head lamp and sufficient warm clothing to manage a night out in poor weather in case of an emergency. I would suggest you bring a tent and cooking gear, and then decide at the parking lot whether or not you want to try for a spot in the cabin. The cabin holds about 15 people and is similar in size to the one at Watersprite.
