An amazing loop that uses Hurley FSR(it will be open by then) to access an incredibly beautiful glaciated area: glacier travel gear is mandatory!
From the Hurley Rd, will access the Locomotive peak area, then continue along the ridge towards Tender and Caboose peaks. Lastly will reach the Faceless peak area from where will drop down over the Train glacier to loop back to our uptrack at 1700m: a beautiful 3.5km long run( fingers crossed for good weather/visibility!).
Latest reports call for 4-5ft of snow at the trailhead, so no bootpacking here but probably some challenging terrain through the trees.
Please be considerate and do NOT sign up unless you are 100% committed for the trip and you are at least an intermediate skier(can do black runs in any conditions, including trees) in the Backcountry. If in doubt about your capabilities send me a message and we can talk about it:)
Will be moving at moderate-fast pace, so if you are a slow skier this trip might not be for you.
MUST have :
AST1 training
Shovel, probe and avi beacon
Ski crampons and Ice Axe
Glacier travel gear: rope(shared between the group),harness, binners,auto-blocking device,etc
Food and water for the whole day
First aid kit!
Ski Helmet
