4x4 is required to be able to drive to KM5-6 of the Chance Creek FSR.
This is not the traditional approach so make sure you do your own due diligences and research, as I've never been there via this route. The rough plan is to use Chance Creek rd and then a network of FSRs(about 4.5km on them) to arrive at the lake from Tricouni Meadows EAST(N49.99891 W123.23533). From there will try to gain the peak area via the north col at the end of the valley.
Please be considerate and do NOT sign up unless you are 100% committed for the trip and you are at least an intermediate skier in the Backcountry, which means you have at least 2 seasons(10 trips) of experience. If in doubt about your capabilities send me a message and we can talk about it:)
This is a trip for intermediate and advanced BC skiers only. We won't do any crazy chutes but you should be able to ski black runs under any type of conditions .
Will be moving at moderate-fast pace, so if you are a slow skier this trip might not be for you.
Will evaluate the peak conditions as we approach it but be prepared to be content just with a nice ski line, and NOT climb all the way to the top: this is NOT a mountaineering trip, so anything more than a mild class 2 scramble is out of the question. If you are a peak-bagger that is not flexible with the objective, please do not sign up.
MUST have :
AST1 training
Shovel, probe and avi beacon
Ski crampons/ boot crampons- no exceptions!
Food and water for the whole day
First aid kit!
Ski Helmet
Ice Axe
