The plan is to head up very early on Friday morning (day off), and reach a high camp (the infamous flat boulder campsite). If time allows, we may do West Ridge that afternoon. The next day we'll attempt to reach (in teams of 2-3, TBC) the summit via either the West Ridge (II 5.5), or West Face (II 5.8 - 5.10) and then return to camp.
The next day we'll do one of the Nesakwatch Spires routes (e.g. Southwest Ridge 5.9) before returning home. These are just options, though - it will be in teams of 2-3 and each team is free to climb whatever they want.
Alternatively we may just plan to do 2 days and weekend-only - but the boulder campsite is worth taking a day off for. ;)
The approach is long and with much elevation gain on rough terrain (1800m or so) - you will need a high level of fitness and be a confident rock climber for most of the routes. Preference will be given to participants who have experience with alpine rock and/or trad climbing. I will use screening to select participants who have these skills, as well as who have shown themselves to be reliable club members.
You must have recent experience in:
- Rock climbing (ideally comfortable with 5.8 trad or above)
- Alpine camping
Gear required:
- Rope (may be able to share)
- Harness, helmet
- Alpine rack
- Headlamp/torch
- Camping equipment
- 10 essentials, other gear
