The trail starts at the same point as The Chief and offers views of the backside of the mountain. I have not done the Slhaney trail before and apparently it isn't as well maintained as The Chief. There are supposedly fewer people on the trail.

From the description it is steep as we start out climbing the stairs for the Chief. 

Please come prepared with the 10 essentials, water, extra food, warm clothing (some rain is expected) 

Expected time for the hike is 5 hours return and the pace will be moderate. Not too slow but not too fast. You can read about the hike here.
